Analysis on Prospects of Solar Trough Thermal Power in China

The huge pressure and scare upon human being are getting more and more attention for the limitation and non-renewable of fossil fuel resource, emission of greenhouse gas, warming of global climate and weather deterioration etc. Harnessing solar energy to generate power is the choice of energy diversification strategy of China in the future. The advanced solar power technologies are being paid more and more stress by the governments of Spain, USA and other countries with rich solar energy resources. Solar trough power system was proven the most commercialized and most competitive among the three kinds of solar thermal power technologies. In this paper, the status of solar trough power in the world are reviewed; the advances of solar trough power are discussed, with aiming at the large scale solar power generation developing and the application in China, The new topics of the basic research of solar trough power in China and the developing approaches are proposed in the end.
