Large Eddy Simulation of Film Cooling
Large eddy simulation (LES) was performed to investigate the development process of vortices on different sections of a round jet issuing normally into a crossflow at the blowing rate M=2.0, and the structures mechanism were analyzed. Simulation results showed that the positive and negative vortices on the centreplane and two wings of the horseshoe vortices in the vertical profiles are shed off new vortices alternately and periodically. As a result of the wake vortices entering, the intensity of the counter-rotating vortex pair in the upstream of the profiles, where X/D<4.0, is not decay along the streamwise, while it weakens gradually in the downstream of the profiles, where X/D4.0. The shape of counter-rotating vortex pair (CVP) is not symmetry, and the positive and negative vortices are mixed, owing to the different pressure gradients between the two edges of the jet upstream and downstream.
