A Mutimedia Platform Constructed for Technical English Teaching

A multimedia platform is developed to help improve students’ oral communication skills in technical English. It is a useful tool for in-class activity or after-class practice in listening and speaking. First, requirements for this platform are determined according to the course’s three-level educational objectives. Second, the construction process is introduced in detail, including resource bank building, website design and CD utility development. In this platform, interactive learning is realized by a JavaScript-based programming approach with functions embedded in static HTML pages. Lastly, one of finished CDs is illustrated.
