Toxicity Research of Diisoocityl Phthalate to Earthworm (Eisenia foetida)

Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is a kind of artificial plasticizing agent which is widely applied around the world to improve the plasticity of plastic at present. Toxicity research of DEHP includes acute toxicities and chronic toxicities. Acute toxicities of DEHP show DEHP is low toxicities to earthworm. Chronic toxicities mainly determine the effects of DEHP on the activity of SOD, CAT and GST in earthworm. For the groups treated with the same concentration but different time (1d, 2d, 3d, 4d, 5d, 6d), the activities of CAT, SOD and GST increase initially and then decrease. For the groups treated with the same time but different concentrations (1μg/cm, 10μg/cm, 100μg/cm), the activities of CAT and GST increase initially and then decrease with concentrations, the activities of SOD increase with concentrations addition The results of chronic toxicities experiment show that CAT, SOD and GST can be used as early warning indicators and the biomarkers of the earthworm which are damaged by DEHP.
