Monitoring of SO2, NO2 and O3 in Urban Areas by Diffusive Sampling, Traceability, Proficiency Testing and Inter-Comparison
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) has developed a wide program aiming at establishing traceability chain, proficiency testing scheme and validation of the passive samplers. Thus, a feasibility study for producing and certifying reference materials (CRM) for sulphur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) diffusive samplers has been carried out. The results of a pilot proficiency testing using the prepared NO2 CRMs are presented. In addition, the JRC has also organized an inter-comparison exercise for commercially available NO2/ozone (O3) diffusive samplers, which consisted of both laboratory and field tests. Diffusive samplers have also been used in different monitoring campaigns. Their outcome will be described in this contribution.
