Studies on Oxidation Mechanism of O2 for Mercury in Flue Gases

An experimental set-up was built, on which a bench-scale experimental was conducted to study the oxidation mechanism of O2 for mercury in coal-fired flue gases. The test method used here for mercury speciation was Ontario Hydro Method. The oxidation mechanism of O2 for mercury in different coal-fired flue gas systems was studied in typical constituent flue gas systems. The conclusions are as follows: O2 could praise the conversion ratio of Hg2+ to total Hg in different coal-fired flue gas systems; The higher concentration of O2 could increase the conversion ratio of Hg2+ to total Hg. The oxidation mechanism of O2 for mercury in flue gases is that O2 can assist many sub-reactions.
