Study on Particles Trapping of Indoor Air Using Needle Matrix Bipolar Corona Discharge

Needle matrix bipolar corona discharge is used to trap particles with the diameter between 0.3~10μm in indoor air. The main parameters related to the trapping rate of particles are analyzed, including the applied voltage (16~24kV), the wind velocity (0.5~2m/s) and the particles diameter. The experimental results show that the trapping rate increases with the applied voltage increasing, and reduces with the wind velocity increasing. The value of CARD increases with the applied voltage and the wind velocity increasing. The larger is the diameter of particle, the higher the trapping rate will be. In order to compare the trapping rate, two kinds of electrode structure corona discharge are used to trap particles in indoor air respectively, I.e. Needle matrix to plate corona discharge and needle matrix bipolar corona discharge. The model of needle matrix bipolar corona discharge has a higher trapping rate, especially when the diameter of particles is lower than 1μm, and run long in indoor air cleaning.
