Study on Biosorption of Cationic Brilliant Blue Dye by Microbial Flocculant TJ-F1

The removal of cationic brilliant blue RL from aqueous solutions by using the biosorbent TJ-F1 has been investigated in batch systems. Effect of pH, initial concentration of cationic brilliant blue RL, and temperature were investigated. The results of the kinetic studies showed that the decolouration process of cationic brilliant blue RL followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) image showed that the main mechanism of the biosorption process was bridging and electric neutralization. The FT-IR analysis showed that the functional groups such as –OH,-NH,-C=C and –COOH played an important role during the biosorption process.
