Selection of Activated Carbon in Advanced Water Treatment by O3-BAC
Aimed at the selection of activated carbon for O3-BAC process, the adsorption isothermal experiment was conducted, general performance indexes were determined and dynamic experiment was also carried out with three types of activated carbons. The raw water were that from inlet (unozonated) and outlet (ozonated) of an ozone reaction column. The experimental results showed that for the activated carbon selection of O3-BAC process, the ozonated water as raw water was preferred. Combination of general performance indexes and adsorption isothermal experiment with ozonated raw water was considered more efficient and faster to make preliminary selection of activated carbons. In addition, BDOC removal capacity of activated carbon is expected to be an important factor for activated carbon selection in O3-BAC process.
