Experimental Studies on Subsurface Flow Wetland for Improvement of Micro-polluted Raw Water Quality of Huanghe River

The result of the experiment in improving the quality of the micro-polluted raw water of Huanghe by the surface flow wetlands with reed and surface flow wetlands with cattail indicated that the average removal rates of CODcr were both below 10%,TN removal rate of the above treatment separately came up to 56.17% and 69.44%, nitrogen form of nitrates removal rate could reach 50.64% and 62.82% respectively. The removal efficiency of TP in the two different wetlands were unstable. Along with the reducing of the temperature outside, the removal rates of the two wetlands decrease obviously. Compared to the treatment effect in summer, the removal efficiency of TN in winter decreased 50%.The experiment also indicated that, the removal efficiency of TN, nitrogen form of nitrates reach to 84.33% and 76.32% respectively by using surface flow wetlands with cattail in summer and autumn. The treatment effect was obviously better than surface flow wetlands with reed.
