Photochromic Diarylethene Materials for Photon-Mode Optical Recording
Eight diarylethene compounds were synthesized and their photochromic properties were investigated. These compounds showed good photochromic reactions both in solution and in PMMA amorphous film by photo-irradiation. Using them as a recording media, a series of high-density photon-mode optical recording tests, including holographic optical recording, two-photon 3D optical recording and multi-wavelength optical recording, were performed successfully on the sample discs. The results indicate that diarylethene materials are the most promising candidates for all types of photon-mode optical recording described above.
