Electrochemical properties of Ti0.8Zr0.2V2.7Mn0.5Cr0.8Ni1.25 hydrogen storage alloy electrodes with various Ni powder fractions

The effects of Ni powder, a conductive material, on the electrochemical properties of Ti0.8Zr0.2V2.7Mn0.5Cr0.8Ni1.25 alloy electrodes were investigated. The maximum discharge capacity of the alloy electrodes is increased from 222.4 to 347.9mAhg-1 by increasing the weight ratio of Ni powder to Ti0.8Zr0.2V2.7Mn0.5Cr0.8Ni1.25 alloy powder from 0 to 4. The cycling stability and the high rate dischargeability show a gradually increasing tendency with increasing weight ratio of the Ni powder in the electrodes. In addition, the electrochemical kinetic properties of the alloy electrodes have also been improved when the weight ratio of Ni powder in the electrodes is increased.
