RISK ASSESSMENT OF LPG SPHERICAL TANK YARD

In this paper, risk assessment technique was used on the analysis of liquefied petroleum gas(LPG) spherical tank yard where there are 8 tanks. Hazard identification was firstly performed from the view of the design, construction, operation and inspection of the tank yard. The fault tree analysis (FTA) was used in the analysis of failure mode. The consequence was finally calculated involving unconfined vapor cloud explosion (UVCE), boiling liquid expanding vapor explosion (BLEVE) and pool fire. The results showed that the stress corrosion crack of the inner wall of the tank shell was the most important factor, which would cause the failure of the tank. An inspection plan and detail management methods were suggested.
