The role of molecular environmental science in advancing the frontiers of trace dement biogeochemistry
Contributions in biogeochemistry of trace element research have immensely benefited humankind, including enhanced food production and the quality of our environment. This overview paper focuses on the role of molecular environmental science in elucidating biogeochemical processes and mechanisms of trace elements at environmental interfaces and delineates research frontiers for the present decade and beyond. Advances will undoubtedly involve studies and development of models over a range of spatial and temporal scales, use of in-situ technologies, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
