Effect of copper contamination on fungal biomass of agricultural soils
This study is a part of a global three years program that aims to develop and validate an index of soil biological status in order to assess impacts of pollutants upon soft quality. We focused here on fungal biomass and on the relevance of its descriptors ( 18S rDNA, ergosterol, specific PLFAs). We showed that these descriptors are highly intercorrelated and provide significant discriminant for different agricultural practices (crop, meadow). On the other hand, we carried out an experimental approach using microcosms of undisturbed soils to reproduce real agricultural practices. In such conditions, we did not observe any effect of copper contamination on the fungal community.
