Role of zinc and boron on the yield, quality, Zn and B availability and uptake by hybrid maize
Field experiment was conducted to know the impact of various levels zinc and boron application as individually and in combination on the yield and quality of hybrid maize var. COHM 4. The results showed that, application of ZnSO<,4> at 37.5kg·ha<-1> registered the highest grain yield of hybrid maize and it was on par with the combined application of 25.0kg Zn SO<,4>+10.0kg Borax ha<-1>. A linear increase in the protein content was noticed with Zn and B addition while the lowest protein content was observed at control plots. Further inclusion of Zn and B in the fertilizer schedule enhanced their respective soil nutrient status to sufficient range even at post harvest stage. The uptake pattern of Zn and B showed significant differences between with and without micro nutrient inclusion and the highest values were noted with the best treatments.
