Micronutrient foliar fertilization on the growth, yield and nutrient uptake of cotton and rice

Field experiments were conducted to find out the efficacy of foliar fertilization of micronutrients on the growth, yield and nutrient uptake of cotton and rice. The experiments was conducted in a Randomized Block Design with three replications. The treatments for cotton included spraying of micronutrient mixture Micnelf (Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, B and Mo) at 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 percent with control. For rice, Kiecite (Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu and B) at 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 percent with control was followed. The growth, yield components and yield were recorded in both crops. Plant samples at critical stages of crop growth were collected and analysed for the concentrations of Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, B and Mo and uptake were computed. The results of the study indicated that the foliar fertilization significantly increased the growth, yield components and yield of crops. Among various concentration, the application of Micnelf at 1.5% significantly increased the kapas and lint yield of cotton to 1871 and 732kg·ha<1> respective ly. In the case of rice, foliar application of 1.0% Kiecite recorded the highest grain and straw yield of 6675 and 7743kg·ha<1> respectively, compared to 4278 and 5286kg·ha<1> in the control. Foliar fertilization of micronutrients also significantly increased the concentrations of all the micronutrients and its uptake by crops.
