Effect of cadmium on nutrient uptake in Brassicaceae species
A selection of Brassicaceae species were grown either over a 0-2μM or 0-4μM Cd concentration range to determine uptake characteristics. Increase in uptake of essential nutrients Ca, Mg and Na was observed in the 0-4μM treatment group corresponding with increasing CA treatment. A corresponding decrease in Zn uptake was observed for most species in both groups. The effect of Cd on nutrient uptake was not linked with Cd tolerance capabilities.
