Heavy metal removal from aqueous solution using zeolite developed from MSW and coal co-combustion ash

Synthesis of zeolite-like materials from MSW and coal co-combustion ash by means of fusion hydrothermal technique was carried out, and the products were applied to remove heavy metals from aqueous solution. The effects of the contact time, pH, temperature, adsorbent dose and adsorbate concentration on adsorption of Pb, Cd and Cu were examined. The results indicated that Pb, Cd and Cu adsorption capacities by the adsorbent was in the sequence of Pb>Cd>Cu and the corresponding value were 270. 3mg/g, 212. 8mg/g and 212.8mg/g, respectively. Meanwhile, it was found that the adsorption data could be well described by Langmuir, Freundlich isotherms. Furthermore, the thermodynamic parameters, such as free energy, enthalpy and entropy, were also calculated.
