Vertical migration of <137>Cs in typic haplustalf and typic haplustert as influenced by chemical extractants
Column experiments conducted to study the vertical migration of <137>Cs in a vertisol (Typic Haplustert ) and an alfisol (Typic haplustalf) showed that nearly 90% of the applied activity was retained in the top 0-5cm layer. Ammonium chloride (0. 5M) eluted more <137>Cs from the soil than potassium chloride (0. 5M). Due to its clay loam texture the vertisol retained a larger fraction of <137>Cs than the alfisol, which had a sandy loam texture.
