Distribution of mercury in sediments from mangrove wetlands of China
Distribution of mercury in sediments from mangrove wetlands in China was investigated from September to November 2006, including 13 nature reserve areas of mangrove. Total mercury was measured by F732-V cold atomic absorption mercury analyzer. The results indicated that concentration of total mercury was related to physico-chemical parameters such as pH, organic mater, S content and latitude, besides local pollution. The pH value and organic matter were important factors effecting the mercury concentration. In addition, the total mercury concentration increases with the latitude increasing, and geomorphic influence on mercury accumulation in sediments from mangrove wetland also discussed.
