Mathematical modeling of cadmium uptake by field-grown lettuce
The Cd uptake by field grown lettuce treated with P- fertilizers of different Cd levels was investigated over an entire growing season. Results illustrated the rate of Cd uptake at a given time of the season may be described by the Michaelis-Menton kinetics, namely the plant uptake increases with the soil solution Cd concentration and it gradually approach a saturation level. However, the rate constants of Michaelis-Menten kinetics model continue to change over the growing season. The plant uptake is more appropriately simulated by a second order kinetic
