Effect of light on Fe(Ⅱ) oxidation in anaerobic paddy soils
Under illuminated conditions, the trend of Fe(II) vs incubation time is different in anaerobic incubated paddies. Anaerobic phototrophic bacteria can use Fe (Ⅱ) as electron acceptor, oxidizing it to Fe(Ⅲ). When illumination was ceased, Fe(Ⅱ) content increase dramatically. Added sulphate can inhibite the process of Fe(Ⅱ) oxidation, and the anaerobic phototrophs bacteria were poisoned by excess sulphate.
