Experimental evaluation of arsenic removal methods from water

In this work we present comparison of three methods of Arsenic removal viz. 1) electrically generated hydrous ferric oxide (EHFO) 2) hydrous ferric oxide (HFO) generated by iron salt 3) Soil biotechnology (SBT) for As(Ⅲ) oxidation to As(Ⅴ) and subsequent chemical precipitation with iron. It is found the residual arsenic in water for EHFO and SBT is below 10ppb and for HFO below 20ppb. It is also shown that arsenic on solid iron residue for EHFO is 160μg/mg iron, HFO is 60μg/mg iron for As(Ⅲ), SBT is 150μg/mg iron. XRD, FTIR, XRF analysis of the arsenic rich iron residue is presented.
