The effect of soil on changes of arsenic compounds in Pteris cretica biomass and rhizosphere

Although P. cretica did not reach the arsenic contents in aboveground biomass comparable to those described for P, vittata at similarly contaminated soils, the results confirmed the suitability of P. cretica for investigation of arsenic behavior in rhizospbere and necessity of more detailed investigation of arsenic transformation within this plant. Evidently, the uptake and transformation of arsenic and its compounds in biomass and rhizoshere of P. cretica is substantially affected by the mobility of arsenate and arsenite in soils as well as by complex of physicochemical parameters of these soils.
