Kinetics and bioextraction of boron as influenced by soil properties
The boron release was studied in two different soil types viz., calcareous (Vertic Ustropept) and non- calcareous soil (Udic Ustorthent) treated with five levels of Boron viz., 0, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, and 1.25μg·g <-1> soil. Different kinetic models viz., Elovich equation, power function and parabolic diffusion rates were used to describe the boron release data. Bioavailability of boron and its effect on soybean growth, nodule development and N fixation were studied. Boron concentration in the nodule increased with the amount of boron added to the soil. The results indicate that boron release, nodule development, B concentration in nodule and N fixation were maximum in non-calcareous soil.
