Is Macadamia farming compatible with soil Mn remediation
Foliar Mn accumulation in two cultivars of the crop plant Macadamia integrifolia was investigated in a pot trial. The results indicate that Mn uptake was slow, and that strong correlation exists between Mn treatment and final leaf concentrations, some of which exceed 7000mg·g<-1> dry weight. Data were also gathered on the effect of Mn treatment on plant biomass. These findings support the feasibility of growing M. integrifolia as a slow remediator of Mn-contaminated soils, while farming the nut produce.
