A study of seasonal variation of point discharge current during thunderstorms at Pune
This manuscript presents results of surface measurements of point discharge current (PDC) caused by large number of thunderstorms during the years 1971-1977 at Pune, India. The results of our study have asserted the earlier finding that the contribution of PDC to negative charging of the earth is of primary importance. Comparison of PDC between premonsoon and monsoon season thunderstorms suggested that the former category outclass the latter by at least a factor of two in their charge transfer ability to the earth. We have presented few more results of this study.
