A review on the electrical characteristics of thunderstorm in the Chinese Inland Plateau and Tibetan Plateau
The electrical characteristics of thunderstorm in the Chinese Inland Plateau and Tibetan Plateau have been continuously studied since early 1980’s. It has been found that the thunderstorms can be divided into two categories in the regions, one showing the usual triple electrical charge structure, another one showing the unusual triple charge structure which consists of a larger-than-usual LPCC. For the later,a ll rocket-triggered lightning flashes are always positive with only initial continuous current stage without return strokes. Nearly all cloud discharges are polarity-inverted and appear to neutralize the main negative charge and the lower positive charge. The location of radiation resources shows that the intracloud discharge are initiated from the negative charge region and propagate to the lower positive charge region.
