Lighting Electromagnetic Radiation Field Spectra in the Interval From 25 to 300 MHz

By means of a fast Fourier transform (FFT), average energy spectra in the interval from 25 to 300 MHz are presented for most of the components that produce large radiation field pulses from lightning: first and subsequent return strokes; stepped and dart leaders; preliminary breakdown and Intracloud K changes. Radio frequency observations of cloud-to-ground lightning (CG) were made the broadband lightning interferometer. Radiation source locations and electric field waveforms have been analyzed for different types of breakdown events, including the preliminary breakdown of in-cloud activities, the stepped leaders of initial strokes to ground and activities during and following return strokes.
