Signatures of electric field changes associated with the continuing current stage of cloud-to-ground flashes

During one thunderstorm day on 13 July 2006 we were able to collect six cases of lightning discharges recognized as cloud-to-ground (CG) flash events with the continuing current (CC) stage. They contain three cases with positive charge transfer to ground (CC+) and three cases with negative charge transfer to ground (CC-). Those flashes were imultaneously detected by the SAFIR/PERUN network system in Poland, but only partially, because their CC component cannot be discriminated by this system yet. All recognized types of the CC electric field signatures were additionally examined by analyzing their dynamic spectra to find their particular features which may be used for preparation of useful CC discrimination criteria applied to their further computer processing. A few return stroke (RS) changes of the multiple CG flashes containing also CC events we superimposed on PseudoCAPPI and VCUT radar maps. A possible role of precipitation particles in the initiation of such flashes is considered and discussed.
