Triggering of Lightning by Series of Femtosecond Laser Pulses

摘要：

The effect of initiating long-lived discharge filament near a thunderstorm cloud by series of femtosecond laser pulse is analyzed. It is shown that series of about ten pulses is enough for producing hot channel where self-sustained discharge can develop at a typical for thunderstorm cloud value of electric field ～ 1kV/cm.
