Opportunities for Using of Atmospheric Electric Field Data in Forecasting Unfavourable Weather Conditions

It had been shown earlier that there is a pronounced relation between significant changes of potential gradient of the atmospheric electric field down to going from positive to negative values, significant changes of atmospheric pressure and general condition of cardiac patients of the Sanatorium Sestroretsky Kurort (near St. Petersburg). Effect of the factors stipulating reversal of the electric field polarity occurred in all seasons, including summer time when pressure changes were lit-tle. In such a situation of great importance is a prediction of the possible appearance of negative poten-tial gradient. The aim of the report is to present the search results of the factors, responsible for transi-tion from positive values of potential gradient of the atmospheric electric field to its negative values. It was found that occurrence of hourly average negative atmospheric electric potential gradient in warm season was connected for the most part with occurrence of lasting rain. The latter as distinct from the potential gradient falls in predictands. It has been passed an opinion on possibility for using of search results in forecasting of unfavourable weather conditions in the Northwest region о f Russia , wherein it is most probable occurrence of meteoropathic reactions among cardiac patients with higher meteoro-logical sensitivity, undergoing a course of medical treatment in the sanatorium regime.
