The Application of LLS And Sounding Data Over Nanjing
Cases of lightning flash over 1 °×1 °domain centered at Nanjing, Jiangsu province were analyzed with data from local Lightning Location Systems and sondes. Parameters as Showalter index, θ se (pseudo-equivalent potential temperature) difference between 700hpa and 1000hpa level, θ se difference between 500hpa and 700hpa level, temperature at 1000hpa level and temperature at 500hpa level are found to be obviously relevant to lightning. A factor is hence defined as lighting flash index, for predicting lightning flash probability. The research results are helpful for predicting thunder and lightning over Nanjing region.
