A Primary Study on Lightning Simulation with Numerical Model and CINRAD Data Assimilation
For the study of lightning storm simulation, data from CINRAD-SA(Chinese Doppler Radar) which provide 3-dimensional detailed information in thunderstorm clouds are assimilated into non-hydrostatic mesoscale model ARPS(the Advanced Regional Prediction System) to improve initial fields, whose plenty of results, including storm weather background fields, detailed intracloud structures, precipitation and so on, are put into cloud model for thunderstorm simulation. Certainly, proper electrification parameterizations should be introduced into this cloud model, instead of considering discharge courses, an experiential breakdown threshold value is given on simple principle. Then a method of obtaining rough electric field intensity is propounded through precipitation intensity, thereout lightning location sets data could be used effectively.
