RESEARCH OF THE LIGHTNING RULE IN SUZHOU

By using the lightning data from 2002 to 2006 in Suzhou, lightning characteristics such as monthly variation, daily variation, intensity of lightning current and lightning density are analyzed. The results indicate that monthly and daily variation shows bimodal undulance in Suzhou. The clime about pm 19:00 at summer is the critical stage that severe convection is very easy to develop and mature. Intensity of lightning current which is less than or up to 10KA accounts for the largest share, but ones which are more than 10KA mostly locate in southern region, which mostly are positive flashes. The biggest flashes frequency center locate in Suzhou city. Furthermore, the spatial distribution of lightning is closely related to the entironment in this region.
