Analysis of time and spatial distribution of Lightning Characteristics in Shanghai
Based on lightning data in the past 2 year(2005~2006), collected by the lighting positioning system(SAFIR3000) in Shanghai, A study made of the daily and monthly lightning variation, as well as lightning intensity, polarity and density, etc., and the climatic characteristics of lightning in Shanghai is analyzed. The results showed: the most flashes are negative; the mean intensities of positive flashes are bigger than those of the negatives. The occurrence of lighting is obvious monthly and diurnal change. The maximum number of thunderstorm days was found in July, and lightning occurs most frequently in July, too; There are two peak periods in the temporal distribution, 5:00~7:00 and 15:00~18:00. By studying the density, high-density CG appears in some entertain districts, such as water body or downwind of water body, and rough dry areas. The spatial distribution of lightning is related to the topography and the nature of the underlying surface. Lightning activity and surface moisture conditions have close relationship. The spatial distribution of CG+ and that of CG- have great difference that show thunderstorm cloud charge structure is different.
