Assessment of Thunderstorm Lifecycle using Total Lightning Systems

摘要：

As part of Vaisala’s technology and applications test bed in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas, we have been operating overlapping lightning detection networks operating in the low frequency (LF) and very high frequency (VHF) frequency ranges. In this paper we compare these systems in terms of their characterization of thunderstorm lifecycle, and contrast the relative strengths of these approaches to improve thunderstorm nowcasting.
