PATTERN-LESS RAPID CASTING AND RAPID PROCESS EVALUATION
In order to reduce time and costs of the products development in the sand casting process, an integration of product design and process evaluated is proposed in this study by the combination of two current technologies, rapid prototyping and process simulation. Thus rapid process evaluation will achieve with integrating the two technologies. To reach this goal, a novel rapid prototyping method based on profile failure technique is presented, which, in particular, has proved to be a time- efficient and cost-effective approach for direct rapid mould fabrication. As a computer aide method, the commercial package software (JSCAST) is used in this study to find the optimum set of process parameters before manufacturing. A case study illustrating time saving using the novel approach is also presented.
