Improved Debenzylation of Caged Polycyclic Amine Hexabenzylhexaazaisowurtzitane

The yield of debenzylation of hexabenzylhexaazaisowurtzitane was not actually more than 80% with 10-15% byproducts. However, we have successfully achieved a yield of 92.1% with the product purity of 95.8% by optimally control the hydrogenolysis parameters such as temperature, catalyst and solvent. The selected parameters could facilitate the debenzylation and retard the cleavage of caged derivatives as revealed by the attenuated total reflection fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.
