LTAIC Bonding Agent Coated RDX to Improve the Mechanical Properties of CMDB Propellant
In order to improve the mechanical properties of CMDB propellant, the LTAIC bonding agent was coated onto RDX particle by removing solvent The coated RDX is evaluated by SEM and used to prepare CMDB propellant. Some properties of the CMDB propellants with coated RDX are compared to that with uncoated RDX, including mechanical properties, fracture morphologies and sensitivity properties. Under SEM, the coated RDX is covered with coarse shell which is hard and tough and the defects on RDX surface have been filled or covered. The values of δm have been increased from 1.02MPa to 1.53MPa at high temperature (50℃) and from 22.53MPa to 27.09MPa at low temperature (-40℃). The values of εm have been increased by 37.9% and 69.2% respectively. After RDX is coated, there are no smooth holes or bare particles visible on the fracture surface of propellant, and crack among propellant system is reduced. The characteristic height of impact sensitivity increases by 6.4cm, and the explosion percentage of friction sensitivity decreases by 25%.
