Novel Low Sensitivity Explosive 3,4-Bis (aminofurazano) Furoxan: Synthesis, Characterization and Performance

A novel low sensitivity explosive 3,4-Bis (aminofurazano) fijroxan (BAFF) was prepared using 3- amino-4-acylchloroximinofurazan (ACOF) as precursor. The molecular and crystal structures of BAFF were studied by IR, MS, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, elemental analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The single crystal structure of BAFF recrystallized from water is monoclinic, space group P 21/c and Dc = 1.745 g.cm-3, and recrystallized from ethanol is triclinic, space group P 1 and DC = 1.737g.cm-3. BAFF has multiple crystal forms. The calculated detonation velocity by BKW code is 8100m/s(p=1.795g/cm3, theoretical density calculated value by mechanism chemistry) and the experimental value is 7177m/s (p= 1.530g/cm3, charge density). The tested values of impact, friction and electrostatic spark sensitivities show that BAFF has low sensitivity. And some theoretical property of BAFF was researched.
