New Method for Synthesis and Crystallizing of HNIW in Nitric Acid
HNIW was synthesized by hydrolysis-nitration in aqueous nitric acid and nitrates system from the precursors of tetraacetyldiformylhexaazaisowurtzitane (TADFIW; tetraacetylhexaazaisowurtzitane (TAIW); and tetraacetyldibenzylhexaazaisowuttzitane (TADBIW); with the yield of 95.0%. And the epsilon crystal form of HNIW was obtained in the same reaction system by adding e-HNIW crystal seeds during the preparing the title compound. The title compound was analyzed by means of 1H NMR, IR, MS, and elemental analysis. The purity of ε-HNIW was higher than 98.0% and the yield was 93.3%. The synthesis and crystal transition of HNIW can be accomplished in one pot in aqueous system. So, the process route was shorter and safer. No organic solvent was used in the crystal transition of the HNIW from gamma to epsilon form.
