Prediction of Mechanical Properties of Casting Polymer Bonded Explosives
On the basis of structural and mechanical characterization of casting polymer bonded explosives (PBX), a three-phase (dispersion phase, interface phase, and continuous phase) constitutive model, which was previously proposed for calculation of solid propellants, was developed and verified in prediction of the mechanical properties of the casting polymer bonded explosives in this study. The interface chemical principle and three phase constitute model are combined, which improve the mechanical propertys calculation and composition design method of casting PBX. With this model, the relationship between mechanical properties of the casting PBX and modulus of matrix, solid particles content, particle size, gradation and thickness of the interface adhesive layer are constructed mathematically. The results show that the simulation of mechanical properties of PBX with the three-phase model is in good agreement with the experiment results.
