Selection of Advanced Propellants for Pulsed MHD Power Systems
An attempt of critical analysis of current status in the field of research and developments of chemical plasma-generating fuels for pulsed MHD power systems is made. Depending on the type and application of pulsed MHD generator the requirements imposed on the plasma-generating fuels are presented. It is shown that a much used criterion ou2 for analysis of fuel composition is necessary, but not sufficient. On the base of current experimental experience on testing different types of plasma generators and pulsed MHD channels a limitation of combustion products temperature and condensed phase concentration is introduced for provision of operation ability of the nozzle and channel design.
