Impact Initiated Characteristics of Reactive Material Fragments
The impact initiated characteristics of the reactive material fragments fabricated by means of the powdered metals suspended in the plastic matrix binder such as plytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) are presented. The formulations, fabrications, impact initiated phenomenon, damage mechanisms and effects of the reactive material fragments are analyzed and discussed. The ballistic experimental results showl that the reactive material fragments with the enough strength can be initiated reliably at an impact velocity beyond 700m/s. And much more serious structural damage to the target is produced compared to the conventional metal fragments.
