Research on Staged Start of Tripropellant Thermal Propulsion System
A staged start means of tripropellant thermal propulsion system is studied. The tripropellant thermal propulsion system start is set up in four stages. Firstly, the solid propellant is ignited; secondly, start to add a small amount monopropellant at the specified time; thirdly, the fuel flow is increased gradually to get higher temperature and pressure, when the temperature and pressure is up to threshold value, and monopropellant switches to tripropellant and the system get into the stable operation. The mathematical model is given and the simulation result is present in this paper. The combustor pressure variation curve and the relative engine performance in different stage of start proceeding are shown. Simulation results give the appropriate means to provide monopropellant to guarantee the smooth switch between different stage and the stable engine work.
