Evaluation of Risk Area Caused by BLEVE of LNG Tanks
In order to provide some reasonable basis for fire security, two models (the Greeberg-Crammer model and the ILO model) were used to evaluate the radius and the duration of the fireball, the heat radiation flux with distance, the dead radius, the radius of burnt degree one and degree two and the radius of igniting wood as BLEVE of LNG tanks occurs. The comparison of the intensities of heat radiation with distances was made by use of the ILO model and the Greeberg-Cramer model for a LNG burning vertical tank of 100 m3. The risk area estimated by Greenberg-Cramer model is greater than that by ILO model. Because Greeberg- Cramer model does not consider the impact of containers shape and the heat absorption in the air, and ILO model is without considering the impact of containers pressure, the two models have certain shortcomings. The intensity of heat radiation calculated by Greenberg-Cramer model which is corrected with the atmospheric transfer coefficient r is near to that by ILO model. The two models should e complemented with each other for a reasonable evaluation.
