Physico-chemical Properties of 3, 4-Dinitrofurazanfuroxan (DNTF) and Its Effect on Combustion Properties of Smokeless Propellant
The thermal behavior, thermodynamic data for melting process, specific heat capacity of DNTF was study by DSC and mircocalarimeter. Compatibility of DNTF with main propellant ingredients was determined. The results show DNTF is compatible with the main ingredient NC or RDX of solid propellant. The equation of specific heat capacity of DNTF with temperature is Cp=0.3106369+0.0021091067 in the temperature range of 283.15K-343.15K and the adiabatic time-to-explosion is 126.64s in the integral temperature range of 499.15 K-522.13 K. The energy calculation result show the specific impulse of the DNTF monopropellant is similar to that of the CL-20 monopropellant. The effect of DNTF gradually substituting the ingredient RDX in composite modified double base propellant (smokeless propellant) on the combustion property was studied. The results show that when the ingredient RDX of the smokeless propellant with plateau effect was replaced with DNTF, the propellant still maintains lower pressure exponent.
