Three-dimensional Stress Analysis for Solid Propellant Engine Chamber
In the paper, the stress fields of the solid propellant engine are analyzed using three dimensional linear viscoelasticity finite element model. There are three important engine parts, propellant grain, heat insulation layer and case, in the calculating model. The stresses of the solid propellant engine are calculated under axial overload and transverse overload. The viscoelasticity capability of heat insulation layer and case is considered in the analysis. The critical parts of cracks or unbonded joints were indicated in front- end, back-end, slots of propellant grain and case- insulation interfaces. It supplies a scientific basis for the structural integrity and design of solid propellant engine.
